Each child got to load a soda bottle with Mentos and watch the fountain.
Then we started our build. This week we were going to build a rocket powered by the air pressure generated from the CO2 in soda. We built a launcher for pvc and duck tape.
The idea was to capture the pressure from the bottles and send it into the empty bottle giving us a soda filled water bottle rocket. We had small set back.
The pressure in the bottles was greater then the one I tested. The soda pressure blew the duck tape off the soda bottles releasing the carbon dioxide. I had hoped to shoot the bottle several times but the total failure of the launcher meant we had didn't have a choice but to just play with the rest of the sodas. This summer I plan to try again with glued pvc.
