Big trouble in a Little washers.

Finally the rain let up allowing Makers Club to move out side.  This was the second of the disassembly weeks.  Toady's victims were a washing machine and a dishwasher.  We had lots of and lots of troubles getting the work done.

We needed more tools this week.  There were lots of times when the boys had to wait
for a tool before they could go on to the next
part of the disassembly.  They did real well in taking turns and waiting for their next tool turn.

We also had troubles with the design of the washer.  It like so many of today's appliances are not designed to be worked on.  It really had to be nearly completely destroyed before it was able to be worked on.  We did discover why the washer was broken and if it had been part of the project and we had 100 dollars in parts we could have fixed it and sold it for 50 dollars.

It's value as a appliance  was less then its value as a teaching tool.

The dishwasher was a great learning experience. Taking it apart allowed us to find out that a boy can climb into a dish washer and take it apart from the inside.

That the timer on the dishwasher could be used to replace the timer on the washing machine.
That six boys and one adult can completely disassemble two household appliances in 90 minutes.
That no mater what you plan for you are going to need more hack saws.

Id like to thank the people that donated the washers for us and Miss Jenkins for the use of her truck to go get them.  With out their help we would of been force to resort to taking apart my laptop.

Next Week will be the first of our two bonus weeks.  We will be studying the Diet Coke and Metos effect.  We will also try to set a worlds first for a controlled Diet Coke and Mentos powered rocket.   Lots of people have tried to do this even the Myth Busters.
